Ali
Farrell is a leading independent authority and practitioner in the field
of technology education. Trained as a home economist and previously a specialist food teacher in secondary
schools, she has authored numerous curriculum materials to support the
technology curriculum. Her 'Food Technology in Practice', published
by Design & Technology Association, supported by (then) DfEE and
Unilever, was a standard Food Technology free text used in secondary
schools in England and Wales.
A respected keynote speaker and conference contributor, Ali delivers
training courses for teachers, both nationally and internationally for which she is very highly regarded. She is a leading trainer nationally
for the Food in Schools Primary Training programme and for the national 'Licence
to Cook' programme (supported by DCSF). In 2000 Ali was honoured with an award for her Outstanding Contribution to
Design & Technology Education - the highest category of award given
by the Design & Technology Association (the professional association
for teachers of Design & Technology).
